role confusion

I've been wearing lots of hats lately....nurse practitioner student, nurse, charge nurse. I have to think twice before I introduce myself to various patients because I forget where I am and which role I'm playing sometimes. :)
Same thing happens when I'm at work being "just a nurse" and not a nurse practitioner student in regards to how I sign my name- have to remember to stop at the "RN" and not put "RN, VUSN PNP student."

Hopefully the role confusion will come to an end soon and I'll only have to remember one place and one title to sign!

Only 4 more clinical days left...unbelievable.

old people

Mike and I are officially an old couple. We check our blood pressures each night and Mike records them into an Excel spreadsheet.
Pathetic.

For the record, it's legit. I mean, my PB was 140/100 at work yesterday (after 3 cups of coffee and a diet DP). I'm officially off caffeine for the moment.
I'm also very tired.

All the rest of my BPs have been much better.... I truly believe it was the huge amount of caffeine I had yesterday, which is why I'm keeping a record of them to make sure.

Storm damage...

This is what we came home to Wednesday night after the big storms hit our area.
Thankfully, no real damage....just the tree out in the front that's leaning a little!

Things I realized today

1. I realized that I only have 6 more weeks of clinicals left and then I'm DONE. DONE with NP school for good. Theoretically, that means I should know what I'm doing. We'll see about that....

2. Mike and I are not the crazy-night- life- urban- city- folk. We are home-bodies. For instance, we went out on a "date night" tonight. Had dinner at Abuelos, then went to Watters Crossing in Allen to see what it was like. We sat outside to hear the live band, which was nice, shopped around a little, then headed home at 8:30pm to sit on the patio outside with margaritas to plan our garden. We like being at home.

3. I need to find a better whole wheat bread recipe. The one I used today didn't turn out well.

4. I'm glad Mike likes to be outside and garden, trim the bushes and trees, etc. I do not.

More pictures...

How is my brother a father?!?!

The family!

Crazy things kids say

I was in clinicals today and saw the cutest 3 -almost-4 year old little boy.

I walked in with my preceptor and my preceptor asked, "So, Johnny, what's bothering you today?"

Johnny said, "My mother."

Love it.
